About Me
With a deep-rooted connection to Hilton Head Island spanning over three decades, my passion for its natural splendor fuels my exploration of the marshes and forests, seeking out birds and documenting their stories through photography and nature journaling. Through my photography and writing, I aim to educate, inspire, and advocate for the preservation of the delicate and diverse ecosystems of the Lowcountry.
As a passionate birding enthusiast and photographer, I bring years of dedicated experience observing and documenting the natural world. My journey has culminated in the creation of "Flight through the Seasons: Discover Birding and Photography in the Lowcountry of Hilton Head Island," a book that delves into the rich avian diversity and stunning landscapes of this beautiful region.
I am available for speaking engagements and consulting, where I share my knowledge and passion for birding and nature photography, inspiring others to appreciate and protect our environment.
I serve on the Board of Directors of Hilton Head Audubon, and am a member of the Carolina Nature Photographers Association. Contributing to publications like Camera in the Wild, REI's Guide to Bird-Watching for Beginners, as well as spearheading collaborative projects with organizations like USC-Beaufort and South Carolina Audubon, I strive to amplify the voices of birds and nature in our region. Featured in publications and media outlets, my work serves as a testament to the beauty and importance of preserving our natural heritage. My images and story have been featured in Local Life magazine, Bold Journey, Voyages Savannah, CanvasRebel, U.S. News and World Report and on the Scripps National News network.
I find joy in travel, exploration, and the company of my husband and two dogs, embarking on adventures across the country in our RV. As a collector of vintage birding guides and wildlife photography books, my passion for nature extends beyond the lens, shaping both my personal and professional pursuits.
